In an upset for teenage girls, Depp nudged aside Twilight hottie Rob Pattinson for People magazine's coveted endorsement. The Sweeney Todd star is no stranger to the honor, grabbing the title in 2003. Other double winners: Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Richard Gere .  

This second phase of Depp was his growing phase where he went from just being another pretty face to being the muse of Tim Burton (starting with Edward Scissorhands ). Burton's films were purposefully dark and Gothic and attracted a big following based on how different they were. And Depp, for a while anyway, rode that wave of Goth popularity.

Depp took over for Hugh Jackman as the coveted People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive," the magazine announced Wednesday. It's the 46-year-old actor's second time as "Sexiest Man Alive." He also won in 2003.

And ten years after that, he'll still be sexy. And he'll be sexy 10 years after that. 10 years following that he'll be in assisted living, gumming canned pears and goosing nurses with his fungus-nailed claw hands and he'll still be sexy. 10 years after that he will be drained of blood and organs and in a coffin and he will still be sexy. 10 years after that, butyric putrefaction has set in, and beetles are chewing their way through Depp's ligaments while tineid moths feast on his glorious hair and face it,  

Some of the other sexy men hand picked by People include Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, some of the guys from "Glee" (really?), Nick Cannon and Adam Lambert. And, obviously, Robert Pattinson was also thrown onto the list. We're sure somewhere, he's tugging at his greasy locks and wondering how he missed nabbing the top spot.  

While we certainly can't argue with the hot factor of the beefcake chosen for PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive issue, we can't say we're particularly wowed by the picks, which consisted of previous winners ( Johnny Depp ), stars who've been on our radar forever ( Ryan Reynolds , Jake Gyllenhaal , Robert Downey Jr. ), notorious hotties (David Beckham, John Legend), the random oddball/"his publicist muscled us into it" choice (Nick Cannon? Really?) and a few new faces who could hardly be overlooked (the "Glee" guys  

You are all officially less sexy than Johnny Depp.
